Scholarship Opportunities

There are three broad categories of scholarships available to the undergrads of Phi Kappa Psi NY Theta:

1) Per Semester scholarships financed by the NY Theta Chapter Scholarship Fund (CSF) in the Phi Kappa Psi Foundation

  • 5% of the fair market value of the CSF’s assets is available to be distributed as scholarships each year. Scholarship criteria are set by the undergrads, and approved by the RTC. Scholarship award money is directly deposited into the RIT student accounts of the respective winners to ensure that all donations to the CSF remain tax-deductible. In any one academic semester, RTC will not award more than 50% of the available funds to distribute.
  • Minimum criteria for each scholarship are:
    • The winners must not be in financial debt to the chapter.
    • The winners must currently be in “Academic Good Standing” as defined by the chapter.
  • Each scholarship is valued at 1/18th of the funds available each year. Current scholarships offered:
    • (2) Award for Academic Excellence – Three scholarships awarded to the top 2 undergrads achieving the highest GPA per credit hour attempted in the previous quarter.
    • (1) Award for Academic Improvement – Two scholarships awarded to the top undergrad achieving the highest GPA in the previous quarter with respect to his cumulative GPA.
    • (1) Award for Academic Excellence during pledging – One scholarship awarded to the top new initiate achieving the highest GPA per credit hour attempted in the previous quarter in his pledge class.
